chello,
i literally just got back from the variety show like 10-15 minutes ago. the only reason i went was cuz i told curtis i'd see him- and i didnt wanna let him down, the only reason i didnt want to go was cuz i knew there would be the usual wannabe girl popstar singers that all sound exactly the same and think they're the star of the show who sing nothing but ballads. so i went anyway, and mackie came too. so curtis and the curfew were opening and i really had no idea what to expect- but i was not expecting what i saw. it was incredible. and i'm not just saying that, i have no reason to say that. it started pitch black and then suddenly the drums came in- then the lights came on right when the guitars came in. the thing that first impressed me was the confidence in every member- and they rightfully had it, all the instruments were flawlessly played. and they all naturally got into the music- curtis was swaying back and forth, the bassist was bobbing his bass up and down. another thing i wasn't expecting was a light show. they had a killer light show. toward the finale of the song, the lights flickered on and off- kinda like when toby sings extreme days live. the whole performance was really professional, i was totally impressed.  so after the first song, me and everyone else were really pumped. then the wannabe american idols started. then the jokes started. nothing really stood out from then on performance-wise. but it was entertaining.

ok, so today jason and lisa came in a few minutes after i came home from school. goodbye alone-time. so we brought in about one tenth of all their stuff today, and we'll finish tomorrow. so far we brought in their huge tv that im extremely jealous of, and jason's rifle... one of many, and a bunch of other crap. very nice.

yoyo. well, today is the first day of the second semester. i made it through finals- math: B, history: B, german: B, health: C- but it's 79%... so close, choir: A, sci: C, lit: B, lunch: A... oh yeah. so the three day weekend was very noice. friday i got a haircut, saturday was my bro's bday so we just hung out, sunday i watched the bears game which was awesome and later went to see a movie with mackie, and after the movie we drove around, went to taco bell, blasted sum mxpx. it was kinda scary tho cuz the streets were so slippery but it was fun. monday, no one was home so i worked on music the whole day, then went to tha dentist and got screamed at by my dentist who hates me, then went ta mcdee's w/kyle and chatted about girls, music, girls, mexicans and girls. later we went to the cd store then bestbuy and we were just lookin around and then mr skarstein was all of a sudden behind us, lol. scared the living daylights out of me, lol. dont get me wrong tho, he's a good man- and he makes a mean hamburger.

so yeah, still no word from breakaway. but... someone else told me that he likes the song- no one big just TOBYMAC'S GUITARIST. i didn't even ask him to listen to it, i just sent him a message saying i've seen him live four times and i think he's really cool bla bla bla. the usual fan letter. and he replied a day later- and he said he dug my song! so if i win or lose the breakaway contest- it doesnt really matter anymore, the guitarist for TOBYMAC said it was a good song. that's all i really need to hear.

cheers,
johnny

well... where to begin. been a long time since i updated this thang. i'll give the summary of my winter break- sleep, family parties, sleepovers, family, moutain climbing, and i got a video ipod. there ya go. and yes, i said moutain climbing. me, my brother in law and me went to this moutain climbing place- it was so sweet, there were lifelike moutain thingys you climb- they go up to 50 feet. it was a blast. so yeah, anyway, this week is finals week. it's good cuz the days are short, but it's bad cuz... it's finals. i just cant wait till its over.

so anyway, i've been trying to enjoy every moment i get alone- because in about 2 weeks, i'm probably never gonna get another moment alone... ever. my brother-in-law basically got laid off at his job in Florida awhile ago. so for awhile he's been looking for another job. and he still is- and he's got a better chance of getting one here then there, so... Lisa and Jason and moving back up here... with us! and that's not all- my bro just recently got a really good job here too, so he's gonna be living here too!! these are my last few days as the only child. pretty soon we're gonna be like the Cosby family. it's gonna be crazy around here. i usually come home from school, and nobody's home till around 4 30, and that's the time when i just relax,  chill, work on music (i'm still too embarressed to sing when anyone's home), but now i'm gonna come home to lisa and jason. and we're also gonna have 5 cars (my brother just bought one)!!! that's crazy, our garage can only hold 2. so yeah, these are my last two weeks before it gets crazy around here.

music update> i have not heard back from breakaway. however, i've been talking back and forth with one of the past winners of another breakaway demo contest (on myspace).he said that it took at least 2 months before breakaway got back to them- he said he had almost forgotten about it when they called him. well... it's been a little more than 2 months(and i certainly haven't forgotten about it) ! so, any day now.

heya, well yestaday i went to my gram and gramps for a family christmas party (moms side/crazy side). it was the usual family party; little kids running around, all the grown ups having heated political conversations, alot of food. so it was me, pete and my 2 cousins. one of em is really into music, and the other one is really into swimming, which one do you think i hung around more? yeah. the music one. so it was a pretty normal night except for a gift exchange game we played. we play one every year, my grandparents always make up some gift game, usually we play white elephant, but this year they made us pick a number out of a hat, and whoever gets the number 1 gets to go into a room first and pick any gift thats in there, but you can only stay in the room for 5 seconds. yeah, i don't know. so i got pretty excited, but there was really nothing that i wanted. over the years, the gifts they've been giving have just been getting worse and worse. its gotten to the point where they have mirrors, can openers etc. there were only a handful of cool gifts. anyway, once everyone picked a gift out of the room, we sat in a circle and passed around pairs of dice, and you'd roll, and if you got doubles, you'd get to either trade a gift or take a gift from someone else. everyone was fighting over cubs pants, i was thinking of just taking em for the heck of it. anyway, in the end i got what i wanted (a putter that shoots back your golf ball, a rotating tie holder (why not?), and some XXL shirt that im never gonna wear). later in the night, my uncle(who's got his own record label) and my cousin wanted to hear Never Going Back, so i gave them the cd, and they listened to it on a discman, which i thought was just fine. then word got around about it, and before i knew it, my dad was setting up a cd player so my whole family could hear it. my grandpa was especially excited, and the everyone else was just curious about it. so it starts playing, and my grandpa's smile began to turn upside down. then the rap started, and he's like "What the??? What is this... black music?!" i was like, 'well, it's rap.' yeah- i really let him down lol, he hated it. hes a great guy and all, but brutally honest. but w/e, the seniors arent supposed to like it i guess. my cousin ended up listening to it 4 times, and the rest of night he kept asking about it n stuff, so that was cool, it was nice to get encouragement from someone. my mom got kinda mad on the way home lol, we drove past a strip joint, and my dad goes "Hey, that's where I met your mother." lol
